Engineering Change

Engineering Change (EC) is defined as any change to the engineering configuration (functional, physical or performance) baseline of an existing system, including the associated data requirements, work processes and competencies of personnel required to perform work on the system.

Engineering change may occur when an asset is modified, upgraded, added, removed, or replaced and the specified function, physical characteristics or performance of the system are consequently changed.

  • Function describes what the object does.

  • Physical characteristics are descriptions of what the object looks like, such as dimensions or colour of the system.

  • Performance characteristics describe how well the object does it’s designed function.

Management of Change (MOC) number for an approved engineering change shall be required for Network Access.
